Relocation guide

Moving to Dallas–Fort Worth

The Metroplex covers a lot of ground – Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties and dozens of cities, each with its own feel. Here is a quick orientation, and our team is happy to give you the full tour, in person or by video.

North: fast-growing suburbs

Frisco, Prosper, Celina, McKinney and Allen offer newer homes, master-planned communities and highly sought-after schools.

Central: close to everything

Irving, Grapevine and Coppell sit between Dallas and Fort Worth, near DFW Airport and major employers.

South & west: space and value

Arlington, Mansfield and Fort Worth offer a wide range of prices, larger lots and easy access to both downtowns.

What newcomers ask us most

Taxes

Texas has no state personal income tax. Property taxes are set locally by the city, county, school district and any special district, so rates differ from street to street. Once you live in the home, file for a homestead exemption to lower your bill.

Getting around

Most people drive, and many highways use NTTA toll lanes, so a TollTag is worth getting. DART, TEXRail and the Trinity Railway Express connect parts of the region, and you have two major airports: DFW and Dallas Love Field.

Schools

School district lines don't always match city lines. We check the assigned schools for every home you consider.

Buying from out of state

We do video tours, send detailed neighborhood notes, and can handle much of the process remotely before you arrive.
